Why?.... Why the change, why the remake, no notice, no explanation.. people are asking the same question... why?
"If its not broke don't fixit." yet I think that some of the old cliche's apply especially here. Many of us don't like the change to NBCnews site. It has become the same (in my opinion) as the failed launch of the health care.gov site. Buggy, ill formatted, no access to the critical information (vine, comments) and there has been numerous complaints from those that use accessibility options that are now incompatible with the "new" design.
To be fair to NBC they may have had good reasons for the re design but as of the writing of this OPED.. there has been no explanation... the above headline is from a twitter feed that I visited with most of the comments mirroring those aforementioned. This really needs some attention and I hope they address it soon.
Of course there are other things brewing to.. Ever since the redesign of Newsvine.. we (viners) got used to it but we never liked it... it would have been better if they simply added the nation option without removing the friends list and the other option that we appreciated. It is now very very hard to follow up on comments under articles we are interested in and finding those whom you like to have discourse with but are not in a nation that you are in is difficult to say the least.
I Encourage all who read this and/or feel the same way to do three things:
1. Vote up comments/ articles to get attention of the web masters of NBCnews. (vote for me :)
2. Use the titled hash tag to trend it and it may get picked up by some news commentators in and outside of NBC
3. Write similar articles and comment on others (don't forget mine) vine to increase exposure and let me add emailing the NBC for the "bug" factor....
I really like the vine as my outlet for blogging and commenting but as change goes.. I can get used to it.. but I think this change has further degraded my like for this news site.
